
Mayfield, Ky.–A passenger in a car driven by a Mayfield woman was airlifted to a Nashville hospital after a one-vehicle accident Sunday in Graves Co.
At approximately 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Troopers with Kentucky State Police, Post 1 responded to a report of a single vehicle collision at the intersection of KY 1241 and Doyle Road in the Hickory community.
Initial investigation shows Kandace Wofford, age 34 of Mayfield, Kentucky was operating a 2010 Ford Focus, heading North on KY 1241. For an unknown reason, Wofford crossed the centerline and traveled off the left side of the roadway into a ditch. Wofford’s vehicle collided with a road sign before reentering the roadway. She crossed over the centerline again and traveled off the right side of the roadway where the vehicle overturned on the passenger’s side.
A passenger in the vehicle, Lamont Thompson, age 43 of Paducah, Kentucky was ejected from the vehicle through the front windshield and sustained injuries to his right leg and hip area. Thompson was airlifted to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Investigation shows Wofford was wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision while Thompson was not.
The collision is being investigated by Trooper Cody Jackson. The Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by Mayfield Fire Department, Mayfield-Graves County EMS, North Graves Fire Department, and Viola Fire Department.
