Martin, Tenn.–On any given day, you will find all kinds of goodies in the Food is Free Pantry in Martin provided for the community by the Northwest Tennessee Food Network.
The contents of the Food Pantry are available in exchange for donations and donations come in frequently from individuals as well as local farmers who are members of the Food Network, including Hidden Hill Farm, Blackberry Pond Farm and others.
On recent days, the Pantry has been filled with Napa cabbage donated by Hidden Hill Farm, tomato plants donated by Carol Williams of McKenzie, tomato plants, paper bags, gloves and clipboard from Caroline Ideus, freshly-harvested Red Russian Kale, Buttercrunch Lettuce, parsley, Swiss mint, oregano, terragon, sage, cilantro and catnip from Blackberry Pond Farm. And there always seem to be a large selection of herbs, plants and seeds.
The Food is Free NWTN pantry is located at 206 Oxford Street in Martin and organizers said the pantry “is for everyone to use and share. Let’s use food to build community!”
If you would like more information on the NWTN Food Network, you can call them at 731 281 4770.
