Dresden Curfew Lifted; City Park Reopened

dresden-city

Dresden, Tenn.–After reviewing the status of COVID-19 cases in Dresden, Mayor Jeff Washburn has announced he is rescinding the curfew order. Washburn noted there is currently only one active case in the county and there have been no new confirmed cases in the county for the past two weeks, plus the rate of new cases in Tennessee has steadily declined.

Washburn said the city park will be opened to the public on the pre-Covid-19 schedule effective immediately. Persons using the park are encouraged to use social distancing guidelines when interacting with others.

City Hall will remain closed to entrance by the public until July 6, when the doors will be opened for the public to enter the city hall to transact business.

Washburn said, “The City of Dresden appreciates your understanding, respect, and the words of encouragement as we have gone through this stage of the Covid-19 pandemic in Weakley County and the State of Tennessee. We feel very fortunate that the pandemic has not taken a bigger toll in our county and attribute that largely to the citizens of this county taking precautions to protect not only their own lives, but also the lives of others through their love and concern for their fellow citizens. As Mayor of Dresden, I also attribute this fact to the elected officials all across this county taking proactive actions to educate and protect our citizens in advance of the arrival of the virus to this area of Tennessee.”
