Bostwick Seeks Legal Counsel In Suspension Proceedings

hc-sheriff

Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Sheriff’s Cpl. Stacey Bostwick has requested a delay in the proceedings involving his suspension so that he can seek legal representation.

Bostwick was suspended following a Facebook post on Friday which was deemed ‘extremely insensitive’ by department officials. His suspension was with pay until today when his supervisors were to conduct a meeting to determine ‘the exact course of action’ the department would take, including sensitivity training.

According to a press release issued Monday night, the six-person committee comprised of five HCSO deputies and one county commissioner met today concerning Cpl. Stacey Bostwick. During the inquiry Cpl. Bostwick requested a delay in the proceeding to seek legal representation.

By Henry County Sheriff’s Office policy and procedure, the department is required to give him seven days to do so. According to the press release, the committee will then have a second meeting after the allotted time to reconvene and conduct the inquiry in its entirety.

Sheriff Belew said earlier that the Facebook post related to the situation surrounding the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
