Valedictorian Meg Gardner, Salutatorian Ariel MacDonald; HCHS Top Students Announced

Paris, Tenn.–It was an announcement of the Henry County High School’s Top Students like no other. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing guidelines, the school’s top students were announced Monday afternoon on Facebook Live by Principal Michele Webb.

This year’s Valedictorian is Meg Gardner, with a GPA of 102.01613. She is the daughter of Tas and Beverly Gardner.

The 2020 Salutatorian is Ariel MacDonald, with a GPA of 101.32259.

Honorable Mention is Avery Hatcher with a GPA of 101.

The remainder of the Top Seven Seniors are: Ben Murphey, Alec Watkins, Rachel Mitchell and Alyssa Wade.

Webb told all the top students how proud school officials were of them and that they wished the announcements could be done in person as in prior years, but it wasn’t possible this year.

Webb said Top 10 students should consult their school counselor if they wish to know GPA or rank.
“To our knowledge, there will not be a community-sponsored Top 10 ceremony this year,” she said. “However, Top 7 students will receive information about scholarship money by those who organize that program.”
