Gibson Electric Membership Corporation crews worked through the night to reduce the outages. This morning’s total is down from yesterday’s high of more than 11,400.
Yesterday’s storms caused significant damage including at least 15 broken poles, lots of leaning poles and downed wire. Massive fallen trees also have hindered service restoration.
Members who are without power should check their electric meter riser for damage. If there is damage, you will need to contact an electrician to make repairs. Gibson EMC also will need to disconnect your service, so please call your local Gibson EMC member service center to schedule this work.
Gibson EMC cautions members to stay far away from downed lines. They may still be energized and deadly.
Officials said, “We know a lengthy outage is difficult and we appreciate our members’ patience and understanding. We also appreciate our employees who are pushing themselves to get your power restored.”
