Murray Man Critical, Airlifted After Collision

Murray, Ky.–A Murray man who was found unconscious after striking a tree Friday evening is listed in critical condition at a Nashville hospital.

On May 1, 2020, at approximately 5:49 pm, the Calloway County E911 Communications
received the report of a traffic accident with injuries at 5380 State Route 94 West.

Upon arrival Calloway County Deputy James Beeler observed a single vehicle crashed into a tree. The driver and sole occupant, Russell J. Trites, age 58 of Murray, was found unconscious in the
driver’s seat of the vehicle.

Trites was traveling east on State Route 94 West when the vehicle exited the left shoulder of the roadway and continued approximately 250 yards through a field before striking a large tree.

Trites was extricated from the vehicle by mechanical means by personnel from Calloway County Fire-Rescue and Murray-Calloway County EMS. Trites was transported by ambulance to a nearby field where a medical helicopter from AirEvac was standing by to transport him to Vanderbilt
University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

As of the time of this press release Trites is listed in critical condition. The accident investigation is being conducted by Deputy James Beeler and is still ongoing.
