Paris, Tenn.–The city of Paris Civic Center will be reopening Monday, May 4, with several guidelines to be in place.

According to city officials, the City of Paris Civic Center is taking the “Tennessee Pledge” offered by Governor Bill Lee to slowly and responsibly reopen the community.  The Civic Center will reopen on Monday, May 4, following their regular schedule:

6:00 am – 8:00 pm Monday thru Friday

8:00 am – 5:00 pm Saturday

1:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Sunday

The following guidelines will be followed:

All patrons will be screened through questions and temporal screenings before entering the facility.  There will be no admission before 6:00 am.  Everyone must sign in with location and time.

The building will adhere to the 50% capacity restriction with only the Fitness Room, Weight Room and Walking Track open to the public.

Seven (7) people maximum will be allowed at one time in the weight room, fitness room and on the walking track.  No time limits will be placed on individuals for their workout time.  If people are waiting to enter we may be forced to place a 45 minute or hour time limit on workouts.

There will not be any roped off equipment, however, there should always be one machine not in use between patrons.

Locker rooms and showers will not be open to the public.  You must keep your belongings in your possession at all times, we recommend a gym bag or something to hold your personal items.

The pool, gym and meeting room will remain closed at this time.

Water fountains will not be in use at this time, you are encouraged to bring your own water for hydration.

Fitness classes will resume with silver sneakers at 50% capacity on May 11.  We are currently working on a plan now to limit class numbers.  More information on fitness classes will be provided next week.

Everyone is strongly encouraged to wear PPE.

Hand sanitizing stations have been added and everyone in attendance should use these measures frequently.

According to the city press release, “We want to see our community continuing to take their health and exercise seriously by returning to their fitness workouts.  These guidelines are based on the State of Tennessee guidelines specific to the reopening of gyms.  We will adhere to these guidelines and the facility will be monitored for compliance.  We ask for your assistance in keeping the Tennessee Pledge.  We must remember that we still must practice hand washing, use of PPE and social distancing as we begin to return to non-essential activities.”
