Union City, Tenn.–Union City Schools will resume meal delivery/pick-up Monday for area children with some modifications following a week-long Spring Break.
Three days’ worth of meals (six meals in all) will be distributed Monday on all eight of the UC School System bus routes and at Kiwanis Park. There will no longer be a “grab-and-go” location at Save-A-Lot.
Then, on Thursday, two days of meals (four all totaled) will be handed out in that same routine.
Deliveries and pick-ups will begin at 10:30 a.m. on both days.
Bags will be available for transporting the meals, according to Food Service Director Nan Tilghman.
UC School System personnel and volunteers handed out more than 10,000 meals to children in the first two weeks of the program. Any child under 18 – regardless of where and if they attend school – is eligible to receive the meals.
Director of Schools Wes Kennedy said the new schedule will be in place until at least May 1.
