Murray, Ky.–The University Church of Christ in Murray has announced that a visitor to the church on Sunday has been diagnosed with the Coronavirus.
However, Murray-Calloway Hospital officials state that does not mean there is a Calloway County Coronavirus case. In a post Thursday night, the hospital said, “As of now there have been no confirmed cases yet in Calloway County. However, we should all conduct ourselves in a manner as if there are, as this will help to prevent the spread throughout our community.
We have received a lot of questions and are aware of a person who traveled from out of state and attended an event this past Sunday in Murray. This person has been diagnosed with COVID-19. All those who were potentially exposed have been contacted and instructed by the health department with what steps to take.
We want to remind you that if you do not have symptoms or just have mild symptoms please stay home. Our Respiratory Walk In Clinic will be open 8 am – 6 pm Friday.”
Earlier Thursday, the University Church of Christ in Murray posted this statement:
“At 3:45 this afternoon we received a call from the Calloway County Health Department informing us that an individual, a visitor who attended our service this past Sunday morning, has since been diagnosed with the Covid-19 virus. In an abundance of caution, the Health Department has instructed us to communicate this to all our members who were here this past Sunday morning.
“The Health Department has also instructed us to strongly urge all who were here Sunday morning to self-quarantine ourselves for the next 10 days. If you live with someone who was not here with you, the Health Department has advised us to urge you to isolate yourself from that individual/s, as much as possible, out of caution. Please see the details below for information on what you should do if you feel sick in the next 10 days.
Following are the symptoms for which you need to watch:
• Fever (most likely over 100 degrees)
• Flu-like symptoms
• Cough
• Shortness of Breath
If you begin experiencing any of these symptoms, please call either the Calloway County Health Department at 270-753-3381 or the National COVID hotline at 1-800-722-5725. Tests are available locally, but are limited.”
