Union City, Tenn.–Concerns over COVID-19 have essentially made any previous schedules useless.
With Union City Schools dismissing for more than three weeks, beginning Friday, there have been several alterations made to plans that were already in place.
All school-related activities for students in the UC System from the present until April 6 have been either postponed or cancelled altogether. That includes all sports teams and individual athletic competitions.
Practices are permitted for those in-season sports, but workouts will be voluntary and instruction will be limited to small groups of 10 or less, per CDC guidance. No workouts for out-of-season sports will be allowed at this time.
The list of school schedule changes is likely to grow in the future, depending upon the global situation with the coronavirus and the decision of health and government officials.
The following is a current list of alterations:
UCHS
Freshman orientation (March 25) – Postponed indefinitely
Junior class job shadowing (March 27) – Postponed indefinitely
UCMS
Science Fair (March 24-26) – Postponed until a later date
UCES
Book Fair (Week of March 30) – Rescheduled for the week of May 4
2nd grade musical (April 2, 12:30, 1:30, 6 p.m.) – Rescheduled for May 5, 12:30, 1:30, 6 p.m.
