Murray, Ky.–In a press release issued today, officials at Murray-Calloway County Hospital confirmed the county’s first COVID-19 case is one of its employees. Further, officials said the employee spent time with the visitor who attended a church service in Murray over the weekend; that visitor tested positive.

University Church of Christ issued an announcement on its Facebook page last night notifying the public that a visitor to the church March 15 had tested positive and urging members who had been to services that day to self-quarantine. The post has since been deleted.

In its press release, Murray-Calloway County Hospital said after learning the visitor had tested positive, the employee followed protocol and reported to the hospital they had been in contact with the visitor. The employee was first taken to occupational medicine for review, then sent home with self-quarantine instructions.

Late Thursday night, the hospital was notified the employee tested positive for COVID-19.

The press release goes on to say that the employee and family are fine and will continue quarantine.
