Camden, Tenn.–Benton County Emergency Management Agency Director Richard Key said this morning the National Weather Service has determined that the tornado which moved through Benton County Tuesday night was an EF-2, meaning it packed winds of up to 125 mph.
Authorities have identified the victim of Tuesday’s tornado as 67-year-old Carl Frazee, who was killed when his mobile home was struck in the Ballard Road area. A woman who was also in the mobile home was injured and Key said, “Our last report is that she’s doing well now.”
Key said a breakdown of the damage in Benton County is that seven homes were destroyed, 15-20 sustained minor damages and four to five received major damage. No businesses were damaged, he said.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has determined that an EF-4 tornado hit Putnam County with winds estimated at up to 175 mph. An EF-3 hit Davidson and Wilson Counties. Of the 24 people reported killed in the tornadoes, 18 were from Putnam County.
