Paris, Tenn. –STEM Night at Inman Middle School in Paris was a tremendous success Thursday night with well over 600 people in attendance.

Inman Middle School STEM I & STEM II and Rhea STEAM students shared their designs, creativity, and hard work with those in attendance.

Paris Special Schools Director Dr. Norma Gerrell gave a great big shout out to those who made this possible: Todd Latta, Skylar Haley, Karen Goodman, Erin Sinclair, Jessica Homesley, Becky Cate, Jeanie Oliver, Brian Webb, Jason Scarbrough, and many other teachers who volunteered their time to help. Much planning and preparation goes into an event of this magnitude, and it paid off in huge dividends.

So much excitement filled the air as:

  • Catapults that IMS students built were launching basketballs in competition
  • Hoverboards created by IMS students were gliding across the floor in competition
  • Robots were coded by IMS Robotics Team to perform various tasks
  • Rhea students modeled coding with Ozobots and Go Robot Mouse Coding
  • IMS ALPS students shared Science Fair projects
  • Bridges built by IMS students were tested to see how much weight they could withstand before breaking
  • Mandala art was created by Rhea students
  • Towers were built with various supplies by Rhea students
  • The use of a life size “Lite Brite” peg board was demonstrated by Rhea students
  • Various problem solving games were shared by Rhea students

Gerrell said, “This is what educating the whole child is all about! It is evident that we are helping our students become successful learners by implementing the 4 C’s: Critical thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity.”
