Buchanan, Tenn.–Outdoor Kids LLC will be holding its first crappie fishing tournament for teens to win scholarships for college or trades schools at Kentucky Lake on March 21.
Sponsored by Crappie USA, Frontier Metal, Allegro Marinade and Mid-State Seed, Teens Crappie Fishing for Scholarships, the tournament will be filmed and aired on the Pursuit Channel and hosted by National Champion Paul Alpers.
Scholarships awarded are from sponsorship. First place will be guaranteed a minimum of $4,000.00 ($2,000 per team member), $3,000.00 second place ($1,500 per team member), third place will receive $2,000.00 ($1000 per team member) and fourth place $1,000.00 ($500 per team member). More scholarship money will be given away with more sponsorship. All donators will be recognized at the tournament.
There is no entry fee for the youth to enter. It is completely sponsor driven. At this time the tournament is limited to the first 100 teams to sign up. Anglers must hold a A.C.A. American Crappie Association membership which gives anglers a year membership with Crappie USA and Outdoor Kids. Students do not have to be part of a high school fishing club. Students may participate in the tournament from the time they are 12 yrs of age, up until the time they have entered college. Teams must have a boater that is 21 years of age or older. Teams that pre-register prior to Monday the week of the event, will be eligible for a fishing package drawing worth over $200.00.
Registration and voucher pickup will be at 5:00 PM and the seminar-meeting will begin at 6:00 PM, at Buchanan Resort & Marina, 785 Buchanan Resort Road, Springville, Tennessee 38256, 731-642-2828 on March 20, 2020.
A mandatory cooler and live-well check will be at Buchanan Resort & Marina from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM. Anglers will fish from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
Weigh in will also be held at Buchanan Resort & Marina. Anglers must be in the weigh in line by 3:00 PM.
Waters are off limits for pre-fishing from dawn on March 16th to dusk March 19th. Anglers may pre-fish March 20th but must be off the water at 4:00 PM. There is no off limit time for the boat captains.

Outdoor Kids will hold a Kids Fishing Rodeo on March 21, 2020 from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Buchanan Resort & Marina for kids 12 and under.
