Update: Both Homes Now Collapsed In Landslide On Tennessee River

UPDATE from Hardin County Fire Department:

Savannah, Tenn.– Both homes have now collapsed from the landslide along the Tennessee River near 4810 Glendale road . Glendale road will remain closed at least for now.

Savannah, Tenn.–Hardin County officials have closed the area around a landslide that destroyed one home and is in danger of destroying another along the Tennessee River near Savannah.

Firefighters were called to Glendale Road on a report of a landslide along the Tennessee River in an area known as Chalk Bluff around 5:15 p.m. Saturday.

According to the Hardin County Fire Department, two houses were in danger of collapse–only one house was occupied and the homeowners were safely evacuated. About an hour later, the vacant house collapsed down the steep bank.

The photo posted on our website was taken by Hardin County firefighters around 5:30 p.m. and the vacant house on the left is the one that collapsed about an hour later. The one on the right has been evacuated and is in extreme danger of collapse.

The area of Glendale road between Coffee Landing road and Small Road has been closed due to the collapse which is within 20 feet of Glendale Road. Officials are asking everyone to please avoid this area.
