Heart Health Events Set At HCMC

hcmc-heart-health

Paris, Tenn. — In recognition of National Wear Red Day and American Heart Month, Henry County Medical Center is hosting two events to create awareness around the number one health issue in Henry County.

Listening to your heart can reduce your risk for cardiovascular disease.  Maybe you’ve not been paying attention to what your heart has been saying. One of the best ways to prevent cardiovascular disease is to understand your risk.  Don’t put it off any longer. We are here to listen. Please bring your heart to our annual Listen to Your Heart Health Fair on Tuesday, February 18 at the HCMC Diagnostic Center Atrium from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with many educational booths and screenings including blood pressure checks, cholesterol lipid panel, blood glucose, body mass index, stroke assessments, pulmonary function testing, sleep assessments, and carotid artery ultrasounds by appointment.  Goodies, give-aways and healthy snacks will also be available.  Over 15 booths will be set up along with the screenings.

Additionally, HCMC will be hosting our monthly Lunch to Learn on Thursday, February 20 at 12 Noon at the HCMC Diagnostic Center Atrium with Dr. Wayne Gibson from St. Thomas Heart discussing common heart problems in Henry County and the surrounding region.  He will discuss signs and symptoms with those in attendance.

“It is so important to bring awareness to the No. 1 killer in the US, TN, and Henry County,” said Tory Daughrity, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at HCMC.  “We want our community to listen to their heart and learn the signs and symptoms of heart disease by attending both our annual Heart Health Fair on Feb. 18 as well as a Lunch to Learn on Feb. 20 with Dr. Wayne Gibson from St. Thomas Heart.  We want to encourage our community and region to make heart health a priority.”

Additionally, HCMC Departments participated in the “Wear Red” movement on Friday, February 7 with a photo contest where partners from various departments were photographed for a social media contest where the community judges what department wears red the best.  The photo with the most “likes” will win and receive bragging rights.  You can still participate in this contest until Friday, February 14 at 12 Noon.
