McKenzie, Tenn.- The District 11A Basketball Tournament brackets were set Monday morning at Bethel University in preparation for the tournament that will get underway this Saturday at Crisp Arena on the campus of Bethel University. Saturday will see four games beginning at noon with the Clarksburg and Bruceton girls kicking things off as number 4 and 5 seeds. That game will be followed by Huntingdon and Big Sandy men at 1:30 leading to a 3:00 West Carroll and Big Sandy girls as 3 and 6 seeds and the final game of the day at 4:30 with Bruceton and Clarksburg men facing off.
In the girls brackets Huntingdon is the number 1 seed with a perfect unbeaten schedule for district followed by number 2 seed McKenzie with only two losses in the district both to Huntingdon. Huntingdon and McKenzie girls will play on Tuesday night at 6:00 and 7:30. Huntingdon will play the winner of the Clarksburg and Bruceton game. McKenzie will play at 7:30 against the winner of West Carroll and Big Sandy. All four will play in either the consolation or championship game on Friday night at 6:00 and 7:30.
First place for the men’s bracket had to be decided by a coin toss as the McKenzie Rebels and West Carroll War Eagles both had only one district loss. They split during the regular season. The McKenzie Rebels won the toss and are seeded #1 and will face the winner of Huntingdon and Big Sandy on Thursday night at 6:00. West Carroll will play the winner of Bruceton and Clarksburg at 7:30. All four teams will compete in either the consolation or championship games on Saturday night at 6:00 and 7:30. Admission for all day Saturday and each night of the tournament will be $6.00.
The 4 girls and boys teams will advance to the next round in the Region tournament in Waynesboro at Wayne Co. High School.
