TVA: Prepare For Changing Water Levels As Higher Flows From Dams Continue

tva-spillways

The Tennessee River Forecast Center is scheduling higher flows from dams in preparation for potentially heavy rainfall through the week. Main-stem Tennessee River spillways are in use at Kentucky, Chickamauga, Nickajack, Guntersville, and Pickwick. As rainfall materializes the Tennessee Valley Authority will be storing water in tributary dams to reduce flows into the Tennessee River. We expect tributary dams to rise by several feet or more. Shoreline interests and dock owners should be prepared for changing water levels. The TVA’s River Forecast Center will be holding a conference call Thursday to update the current status of the Tennessee River system and its tributaries, as well as planned additional actions to be taken in the coming days due to heavy rainfall.
