Huntingdon, Tenn.–The Kentucky Headhunters are tuning guitars and getting ready to rumble in true Southern rock style at an already sold-out show this February 15th at The Dixie and like many of the shows this season, this one is already sold out.

With every seat being the best in the house and a VIP meet & greet opportunity with the band, The Dixie Carter Performing Arts & Academic Enrichment Center in Huntingdon, TN is celebrating Valentine’s Day weekend like no other.

Like The Dixie, The Kentucky Headhunters don’t do anything small.  This high energy, southern fried band are Grammy winners, two-time CMA Vocal Group of the Year winners and winner of the coveted CMA Album of the Year award.  They’ve also earned an American Music Award, Academy of Country Music Award and scored 4 consecutive Top 40 Country Music hits. With hard-hitting, fun numbers like “Dumas Walker,” “Honky Tonk Walkin’” and “My Daddy Was A Milkman,” it’s easy to see why.

Things haven’t always been big-time for The Headhunters though. The band was originally formed in 1968 as the Southern Blues Rock Band, Itchy Brother.  It took almost 20 years of starts, stops and reinventing for The Kentucky Headhunters to emerge. But it wasn’t anything this group of Nashville rebels couldn’t handle and even turn into opportunities, connections and lifelong friendships.

Founding member Fred Young credits just being “we are who we are” as the key to their success.  And who they are is just about as diversely influenced as they come.  Southern Rock, blues, country, rockabilly, bluegrass and jazz are all foundations of their unpredictable and rowdy sound.  They are a band of “roots music” -rough, ready, and rural.

From their 1989 debut album Pickin’ on Nashville to the opening of their own record label The Practice House, there’s not much that can keep these time-tested members of Southern Rock Royalty from what they do best- playing guitars, regaling us with real-life stories and putting on one wild show.

The February 15th concert and meet & greet experience with The Kentucky Headhunters at The Dixie Carter Performing Arts & Academic Enrichment Center are a part of The FirstBank Dixie Live Series.  Show sponsor for this event is Dex Imaging, with media partners Froggy 104 and Willie 94/1390AM.  The concert begins at 7:30.
