Paris, Tenn.–Firefighters in Henry County are battling two house fires this morning, with one being investigated as a possible fatality.
Cottage Grove/Whitlock Firefighters were called to 7440 Whitlock Rd. around midnight and found the residence fully engulfed in flames.
Henry County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Damon Lowe said this morning that a single adult male lives alone at that residence “but we haven’t been able to make contact with him and we can’t confirm whether he is in the residence.”
Sheriff’s Captain Adam Jenkins said around noon from the scene that the rubble from the fire “has just cooled off enough for us to begin sifting through it.” He said in addition to firefighters and deputies, other personnel from the Rescue Squad, State Fire Marshal and the TBI are at the scene.
Paris Firefighters were called to 700 Whitlock-Paris Rd. in mid-morning and found the residence engulfed in flames.
Residents were reportedly working in the shop next door at the time the fire started and were not injured.
As of noon, Paris Firefighters, along with the Puryear Fire Department, were still at the scene.
Details on both fires, including the possible causes, will be reported when available.
