Paris, Tenn.–Henry County’s Volunteer Fire Departments and the City of Paris Fire Department will be going door to door within their fire districts during the next couple of weeks to gather surveys required for a County Community Development Block Grant to purchase fire trucks for the county’s volunteer fire departments.

Henry County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Ron Watkins said these trucks will be replacing older high maintenance apparatus in service to increase reliability and safety for firefighters. Firefighters will be asking residents for name, address and  income range information.  Signatures will be required.  The surveys must show 376 households to be in the 51% low to moderate income bracket for the county to be eligible to apply for grant funding.

Watkins said there is a public meeting Tuesday, Jan 7 at 5:30 pm at the Henry County Courthouse to seek public input on the $415,000 CDBG grant use.  The public is encouraged to attend.
