Oakland, Tenn.–The Oakland Volunteer Fire Department will be going door-to-door in the Oakland community beginning Monday, January 6 conducting surveys for the 2020 Community Development Block Grant.
Fire Chief James Martin said the surveys are a requirement for applying for the grant. If awarded the grant, he said, the department will hopefully be able to purchase at least two pumper/tankers to replace the worn out tankers some of the county departments are currently using.
Martin said they’ll begin in the early afternoon and may be continuing for a few days.
