Paris, Tenn.–One victim of the New Year’s Day fire in Paris has been positively identified, while identification on the other victim is still pending.
Two men were killed in the early-morning fire at 707 Hardy St.
Henry County Medical Examiner Danny Tucker told WENK/WTPR Saturday morning that positive identification has been received on one of the victims, Areyon Autman, age 23, of Paris. “We still are waiting on official cause of death,” he said.
Identification on the other victim is still pending, subject to dental records and X-ray, and official cause of death is also still pending.
The second victim has been tentatively identified as Robert Long, age 43, of 707 Hardy St., with his funeral arrangements tentatively in the charge of Rawls Funeral Home.
Paris Firefighters were called to the home around 3 a.m. and found it already engulfed in flames and smoke. Firefighters stayed on scene until 8 a.m. The home was a total loss and two dogs also were killed in the fire.
Paris Fire Chief Michael Williams said the cause of a fire was a stove that was being used for cooking when the fire started.
