Armed Robbery Suspect Airlifted To The Med

Sharon, Tenn.–A suspect in the Christmas Day armed robbery of the Little General Store in Sharon was airlifted to The Med in Memphis after he wrecked his car trying to get away from law enforcement.
Weakley County Sheriff’s Captain Randall McGowan said Randall Cowan of Greenfield is still in The Med and his condition is unavailable this morning.
The suspect was identified by video surveillance and past jail booking photos. Deputies came into contact with the suspect while he was driving the vehicle used in the armed robbery between Sharon and Greenfiled.
According to McGowan, the suspect was identified by comparing a previous jail intake photo with the one taken by the store camera during the robbery. Bystanders were able to supply police with a vehicle description and deputies drove to his address and met him driving his car.
At that point, Cowan accelerated to a high rate of speed northbound on Etheridge Levee Rd. between Sharon and Greenfield. Cowan lost control driving around a curve and hit several trees.
Charges will be filed at a later date, McGowan said.
