Buchanan, Tenn.–The Shiver on the River event, which was held at Paris Landing State Park on New Year’s Day for nine years as a fundraiser for the REAL Hope Youth Center, has again been cancelled.
The Lodge at Paris Landing State Park will not be built until 2021 and until it is, organizers said the event probably will not be held. The former Paris Landing Inn was always an integral part of the event, with participants being treated to a brunch buffet and awards ceremony there each year–not to mention a perfect place to warm up.
The event was always held in all kinds of weather, from the cold to the bitterly cold. The full name of the event was “Shiver on the River–Freezin’ for a Reason”.
Donna Craig of REAL Hope said, “We’ve decided not to do it again this year and we really don’t know when we’ll bring it back.”
