Suspect Held In Obion County On Multiple Charges After Six Hour Pursuit

Obion County, Tenn.–A South Fulton man is being held in the Obion County Jail following a lengthy pursuit involving multiple area law enforcement agencies. During the pursuit, which lasted around six hours, the suspect rammed a deputy’s cruiser, injuring the deputy, and almost hit a THP trooper who was standing outside his vehicle.
Jeffrey Shaun Rushin, age 35, is being held on a long list of charges including aggravated assault, felony evading, reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence, implied consent, resisting arrest, vandalism, theft Over $1000, and multiple traffic infractions.
According to the press release from the Obion Co. Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 6:33 p.m. Thursday, dispatch received a call of a possible altercation on Church Road in Harris Station involving a gun. The suspected offender, Jeffery Rushin, was known to have outstanding warrants from several jurisdictions including Obion County Circuit Court, South Fulton Police Department, Weakley County and Fulton County, Kentucky.
Law enforcement canvassed the area for over an hour before spotting Rushin traveling north on Harris Station Road in a Dodge Caravan. At 7:44 p.m., an Obion County deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle and alerted a Tennessee Highway Patrol Officer that was also in the area.
The THP Unit drove in front of the Rushin’s vehicle in an effort to stop Rushin’s vehicle. At this time, Rushin put his vehicle in reverse and rammed the Sheriff deputy’s vehicle causing damage and minor injury to the deputy.
Rushin then drove forward nearly striking the Trooper, who was out of the vehicle, and continued to flee the scene. A vehicle pursuit then ensued until Rushin wrecked his vehicle near the intersection of Section Line Road and Claude Tucker Road, at which time Rushin fled the scene on foot.

Multiple units from the Obion County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Tennessee Highway Patrol Aviation Unit, the Kentucky State Police, Fulton County KY Sheriff Office and the Union City Police Department aided in the search for Jeffrey Rushin for several hours before he was finally located by the Aviation Unit using Thermal Imaging.

Rushing was located in a ditch behind Jiffy Steamer on Ken Tenn Highway where he was taken into custody at approximately 12:36 a.m.
