New Elections Office Remodeling Moving Along

By Shannon McFarlin News Director
Paris, Tenn.–Workers were busy Tuesday smoothing the area that will be the front entrance of the Henry County Board of Elections office once remodeling of the former Weston Hall is complete.
For the past several months, County Maintenance Director Jeff Charles has been supervising the remodeling of the space which will be the elections office. He told WENK/WTPR the contractors will be done with their work by December 12.
Elections Administrator DeLaina Green said the new elections office will be open January 1. Her office will begin the cleaning of the new space and moving items into it as soon as the contractors are finished with their work, she said.
Workers have been busy this week with hanging dry wall and painting, she said, “and the floors will be in over the weekend. It’s starting to look like a real office space.”
The county commission approved the move at Green’s request. Green said the elections office needed more space for voting equipment and storage, with the need growing for future elections.
The elections commission currently is located at the courthouse annex. The County Archives and Airborne Gymnastics are also housed in the former Weston Hall building.
