Paris, Tenn.- A Murray man has been charged by Paris Police with aggravated child abuse and neglect in an incident involving a one-year-old child. According to the report, Ptl. David Beauvis of the Paris Police Department responded to a home on Lakeway Circle about a child with a severe head injury. Ptl. Beauvis made contact with the child’s mother and the mother’s boyfriend Cameron T. Dick of Murray.
In Beauvis’s report, he noted the child had a significant amount of blood on the left side of her head but didn’t appear to be in any distress. Dick said he had been in a vehicle with the little girl and she started complaining of her head hurting and Dick noticed the blood. On the scene, due to the amount of blood that had dried in her hair, EMS personnel weren’t able to determine the exact extent of the injury and wanted to take the child to the Henry County Medical Center emergency room for further treatment.
According to the report, at the ER, she was cleaned up and two lacerations were found. Multiple staples were required to close the lacerations and the nature of the injuries did prompt the Department of Human Services and Investigator Jeramye Whitaker to be called to the scene. The case was turned over to Whitaker and he interviewed the mother and Cameron Dick after which Whitaker then placed Dick under arrest for aggravated child abuse and neglect.
