TBI Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting

PARSONS – At the request of 24th District Attorney General Matt Stowe, TBI Special Agents are investigating the circumstances leading to an officer-involved shooting that occurred Monday evening in Parsons.
Preliminary information indicates that as members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force were attempting to take an individual into custody, for reasons still under investigation, shots were fired by the Deputy Marshals.  The incident occurred in the 100 block of Gilbert Street.  No one was struck by the gunfire.  The individual, identified as Anthony Phoenix, has been taken into custody and booked into the Decatur County Jail.

TBI Agents continue to gather any and all relevant evidence and interviews in support of this ongoing investigation.  Throughout the process, investigative findings will be passed along to the District Attorney General for his review and consideration.

The TBI does not identify the officers involved in these types of incidents and instead refers questions of that nature to their respective agency.

Any updates on this investigation will be posted on TBINewsroom.com.
