Union City, Tenn.–Union City Police were busy Monday investigating three accidents in the city limits.
One woman was injured following a two-vehicle accident in Union City. Mariah Turner, age 23, was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital by EMS for treatment of her injuries after the accident which happened Monday on Bishop Street.
Carol Ullrich, age 16, of Union City, was southbound on South Miles Ave. when she attempted to make a left turn onto Bishop. Turner was northbound on South Miles when Ullrich made the turn and hit her vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway. When Turner’s vehicle came back onto the roadway, it flipped over and landed upside down.
Ullrich was issued a citation for failure to yield and Turner was cited for lack of insurance.
–There were no injuries in another two-vehicle accident which occurred on Turner St. and Stonewall.
Jacob Turner, age 17, of Union City, was eastbound on Turner and approached the intersection with Stonewall. He told police he looked for oncoming traffic and but not see any approaching. As he proceeded into the intersection, a vehicle driven by Walter Goodrich, age 68, of Union City, had the right of way and struck the right front of Tucker’s vehicle.
The forward motion caused Goodrich’s car to leave the roadway, strike a mailbox, strike a trailer that was parked in the driveway and then smash into a garbage can.
Tucker was cited for failure to yield.
–In the third accident, Vincent Bing, age 18 of Union City, was not injured after his pickup truck landed in a ditch in front of Lowe’s. The driver said it appeared the brakes went out and the truck hit the light pole and ran into the ditch.
The driver was cited for lack of insurance and lack of due care.
