Paris, Tenn.–In a collaborative effort between the City of Paris Parks and Recreation Department, The Chamber of Commerce and Lowe’s Improvement of Paris, the Downtown Plaza has seen significant upgrades in its Christmas décor.
Additions to the park include an ornamental walkway, two reindeer, a sleigh, a snowman and several thousand additional lights.
“It’s a team effort,” Chamber CEO Travis McLeese said. “For years the Downtown Paris Association has shouldered the load of decorating Downtown with the help of the City. Tony Lawrence and his team from the city parks department have done so much with the addition of the ‘big tree’ on the fountain and other pieces throughout downtown. We were able to bring Lowe’s to the table this year and contribute to their efforts.”
“In addition to adding to the atmosphere, we see the economic impact from being a holiday destination. It is vital that people consider shopping local when they begin their Holiday shopping. Most don’t realize the impact that their tax dollars can make. In fact, half of the local option sales tax is divided among our two school systems. Not to mention those business owners and their employees and what they mean to our economy. It really is a full circle effect,” McLeese said.
Community members are encouraged to take pictures in the park and use #ShopEatLive when posting their pictures to social media.
