Paris, Tenn.–In a phone conversation with WENK/WTPR, Knoxville-area Developer Victor Patel said if all goes as planned, construction of the new Hampton Inn in Paris should begin in spring of 2020.
Patel said plans are for a four-story, 72-room Hampton Inn to be built on Mineral Wells Ave. next to the Premier Nissan property. It also will include business center, meeting room and swimming pool, he said.
Patel said he is “excited” about the project and also hoped it will bring economic rewards for Paris and Henry County. He said he was hopeful that other developers would consider nearby property for their enterprises, too.
Public notices have been posted by the Henry County Commission and the Industrial Development Board of Paris regarding upcoming public hearings on the project. Three hearings will be held during the afternoon of December 5, with the Industrial Development’s hearing set for 3 p.m. at City Hall, the Henry County Commission’s at 4 p.m. at the courthouse, with a final hearing at 5 p.m. at City Hall directly before the city commission’s regular monthly meeting.
Each hearing calls for consideration of an Economic Impact Plan for The VRL Hotels Economic Development Area for property located at 1540 Mineral Wells Ave., Paris.
County Mayor Brent Greer said the hearings will be similar to those held for consideration of PILOT (Payment In Lieu Of Taxes) plans which are held periodically for industries operating in the county.
Greer said the county is also excited about the prospect of a Hampton Inn coming back to Paris and said the Mineral Wells Ave. property is a perfect location.
A copy of the map of the Property showing the Plan Area is available for inspection during normal business hours at said offices of the City Manager in said City Hall of the City of Paris.
The Paris City Commission on Wednesday approved first reading to rezone the property on Mineral Wells to PB (Planned Business).
