Learning "Your Vote Matters" At HCHS

Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Election Commission kicked off its “Your Vote Matters” campaign Thursday morning at Henry County High School with the junior class.
Elections Administrator DeLaina Green said each of the juniors received cards saying “Your Vote Matters” and each card includes dates for upcoming 2020 elections. Juniors also were given the opportunity to register to vote, which will continue tomorrow. “Several of the kids didn’t know their Social Security Numbers today, so we’ll be continuing signing them up Friday,” she said.
Green said on Senior Day a couple weeks ago, 200 seniors were registered.
She said she is hopeful that presenting the information to the students also will get the community interested in the upcoming November 2020 elections.
