Stella Nera Entrance Damaged In Wreck

Paris, Tenn.–No one was injured, but the front of a downtown Paris business took a beating when a two-car collision caused one vehicle to smash into the building Monday night.
The corner of the brick building which houses the Stella Nera French-Italian Bistro at 100 N. Market Street was knocked out by the collision. Stella Nera Owner Fay Fassio told WENK/WTPR Tuesday morning that the restaurant will remain open while repairs are made. “We’ll be using the side door for the entrance until we can get the front ready again,” she said.
One of the large toy soldiers that decorate the entrance to the restaurant was a casualty in the collision.
According to the Paris Police report, a pickup truck driven by Jennifer Rice, age 23, of Springfield, was westbound on E. Wood Street and she was looking at the Christmas decorations at the downtown park as she entered the intersection at Market Street. She told officers she had the green light.
She told officers that the car driven by William Bucy, age 48, of Puryear, which was northbound on S. Market Street ran into her car, causing it to smash into the front corner of Stella Nera.
According to the report, Bucy was northbound on S. Market and said he had the green light at the intersection and that he as he came through the intersection, Rice made contact with the right front corner of his sedan, causing it to spin 90 degrees. Bucy’s car came to rest on W. Wood Street next to the business.
A witness told officers that he was behind Bucy and that both had the green light. He said he saw Rice run the red light and hit Bucy.
