The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, “Deputies for the Hungry”, is a program where citizens donate the deer they kill to help feed those who are in need.
The sheriff’s office started taking deer on Saturday Nov. 9 and will continue to take in deer until the close of season in January. You are welcome to drop off your deer, seven days a week, at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. The only requirements are that the deer needs to be field dressed and you must bring the entire deer.
Sheriff Monte Belew said, “We have done this program for a few years now and it really helps feed those who sometimes need just that little bit extra. We could not do it without the hunters helping out.”
