Martin, Tenn.—A Martin man was cited after striking a nine-year-old-child on a bicycle Wednesday morning. The nine-year-old juvenile suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has already been released from the hospital.
Gary Shields, age 43, was cited for failure to yield and failure to provide proof of insurance.
Martin Police were called to West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital around 8:30 a.m. in reference to an injured child. In the course of the investigation, officers determined a 2002 Chevrlot Impala operated by Shields struck the nine-year-old near the intersection of McCombs and Jackson Streets.
