Paris, Tenn.– “Operation Trick or Treat” was launched in Henry County Tuesday as a multi-agency Sex Offender compliance check as a joint effort by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Paris Police Department and Tennessee Department of Corrections.
Sheriff Monte Belew said, “The main goal of this operation was to make contact with all sex offenders throughout the city and county to ensure they were in compliance with the sex offender registry rules and regulations as Halloween is approaching.”
During the operation, 92 sex offenders were checked. Of those 92, two were charged with four counts of violation of the sex offender registry, one was cited into court for simple possession of schedule VI and one was cited into court for simple possession of schedule IV drugs.
In addition to the charges already filed against the offenders, numerous investigations have now been opened up stemming from the operation.
Belew said, “Those investigations include child pornography as well as other offenders who are not believed to be in compliance. Sex offenders who were in compliance were given a list of recommended suggestions for behavior during Halloween. In addition to this The Henry County Sheriff’s Office also released a list of offenders classified as violent by the state.” The list is printed below.
Sheriff Belew said, “This is just another step toward public safety by multiple agencies working together. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween.”
As Halloween approaches the Henry County Sheriff’s Office would like to make the following list readily available for parents and families as they get ready to trick or treat. The names contained on this list are every Sex Offender in Henry County that is classified through the state as a violent offender. Although there are other sex offenders throughout the county these are only the ones classified as violent:
