Union City, Tenn.–A Union City residence was destroyed by fire Saturday night and firefighters stayed on scene until the early morning to ensure that the fire did not spread to other nearby homes. Residents of the home were not home when the fire started.
Union City Firefighters were called to 1117 S. 3rd St. around 9:25 p.m., according to Captain Tim Hopper, and the fire had already broken through the roof when they arrived.
Hopper said the single-story home was a total loss. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
Firefighters stayed on the scene until 1:30 a.m., he said.
