Due to the severity of Saturday night’s storms in our area, schools in Houston, Humphreys and Decatur Counties will be closed Monday, October 28.
As cleanup continues from the storms, there are widespread power outages. In Houston and Humphreys Counties, Meriweather Lewis Electric officials have said there are more than 10,000 homes without power and they don’t expect power to be restored to all residences for two to three days.
Officials said, “If you or a loved one are on oxygen or have other necessary medical equipment that relies on electricity, please make arrangements to go somewhere with power or to find backup equipment.”
Benton County Schools will open on time Monday, October 28, but bus driver discretion will be used in the Sugar Tree area. Please call the Benton County board of education at (731) 584-6111 if you have any questions after 6:15 am Monday morning.
