Gibson Connect Issues Caused By Storms

Trenton, Tenn.–Gibson Electric Membership Corp. officials issued an apology to the Gibson Connect members for problems with internet connectivity Saturday.

“Our fiber connection between here and Atlanta experienced a break.  The break was caused by severe storm damage in Scott’s Hill, Tennessee and Waynesboro, Tennessee,” according to Rita Alexander of Gibson Electric.

“Our system switched over as it should have to our secondary connection between here and St. Louis. Unfortunately, we are having some issues with it as well. We are working with both providers to resolve these connectivity problems as quickly as possible,” she said. “Until the St. Louis connection issues are resolved, you may experience intermittent interruptions in service. These interruptions should be brief and your service should reconnect momentarily. If your internet service is down for more than 10 minutes, please call our tech support staff at 731-562-6001. Again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience. We will communicate further when we have additional information.”

Gibson Connect is a wholly-owned, not-for-profit subsidiary of Gibson Electric Membership Corporation, an electric cooperative serving almost 39,000 consumer-members in northwest Tennessee and west Kentucky.
