Paducah Driver Seriously Injured In Graves Co.

 
 
Mayfield, Ky.–A Paducah driver was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning in Graves County.
Eddie Mayes, age 71, apparently had a medical emergency, lost consciousness and eventually collided with a Fulton Transit vehicle on Paducah Rd. near I-69. He was transported to Baptist Health Hospital.
On October 23rd at around 7:45 a.m., officers of the Mayfield Police Department, assisted by the Graves County Sheriff’s Department, responded to a two-vehicle injury accident located on Paducah Road just North of I-69 at the westbound exit ramp.
Through investigation, it was determined that a passenger vehicle that was driven by Mayes was traveling westbound on I-69, and exited down the ramp towards Paducah Road. Mayes was suspected of having a medical emergency, and losing consciousness while on the exit ramp, according to the press release.

Witnesses stated that Mayes’ vehicle was seen coming down the ramp, and ran the stop sign at Paducah Road without slowing down. Mayes’ vehicle then collided with a Fulton Transit Vehicle that was being driven by Benjamin S. Huss, age 46 of Wingo. Also in the transit vehicle was a passenger, Shelly Cole, age 46 of Mayfield.
Mayes was unconscious when officers first made contact with him. Mayfield Fire Department and Mayfield Fire EMS responded to the scene. Mayes was transported to Baptist Health E.R. with severe injuries. Huss had reported minor injuries, and was transported by private vehicle to see a doctor. Passenger Shelly Cole was reported having injuries, and was transported by EMS to Jackson Purchase Medical Center E.R.
