Obion Co. Men Arrested In Missouri For Thefts From Weakley Co. Business

By Shannon McFarlin News Director
Weakley County, Tenn.–Two Obion County men will be extradited back to Tennessee from Missouri where they were arrested this week for long-term thefts from a Weakley County business.
Vernon Edward Harrell of Mason Hall and William Robert Hamm of Obion were taken into custody in Kennett, Mo. and extradition proceedings have begun.
On Monday, Weakley County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Brasfield Road north of Dresden in reference to the theft of about 30 air condition coils from Superior Heating and Cooling.
Deputies met the suspect vehicle but lost sight of it after a short pursuit. Captain Randall McGowan said, “This was the fourth time in four weeks items had been stolen from the business. Investigators learned that people from Obion County had been selling items at a scrap metal business in Kennett, Mo. that matched both the date and description of items stolen here.”
On Monday, a Weakley Co. investigator went to Kennett and waited for the two men arrived to sell the stolen goods. The coils were positively identified by the business owner as being the ones taken from the business earlier that day.
Both Harrell and Hamm were arrested by Kennett Police on possession of stolen property charges. Hamm also had a violation of probation charge pending from Obion County.
