Paris, Tenn.–Paris Police responded to a call that someone had allegedly been camping at the downtown park at Market and Wood St.
Upon arrival, contact was made with Brian Newton, age 42, who matched the description. He told officers he was homeless, but that he had not been staying in the bathroom of the park.
Meanwhile, a park department employee had reporting finding syringes in the bathroom. Newton was asked if he had been using the needles in the bathroom. Newton said he had not shot up in the bathroom but appeared to have recently used meth, according to what the officer observed. Newton did admit to and was cited for possessing meth and paraphernalia.
Shane Phillips, was also present and was found to have an active violation of probation and is on the Sex Offender’s Registry.
