Trooper Arrested For DUI Has Resigned

 
McKenzie, Tenn.–The Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper arrested for DUI in Paris early Monday morning has resigned.
Lt. Brad Wilbanks confirmed to WENK/WTPR that Trooper Daryl Veliz resigned Wednesday.
Veliz was off-duty at the time of his arrest. He was found slumped over in the front seat of his vehicle around 5 a.m. Monday by a Paris Police Officer. The officer also saw open containers of alcohol in plain view inside the truck and officers recovered a loaded Smith & Wesson .380 handgun inside the vehicle.
Veliz was charged with DUI, refusal of implied consent, and possession of a weapon while intoxicated.
