Huntingdon, Tenn.–The Shepherd’s Table will be having its next supper on Tuesday, October 15th, at the First Presbyterian Church on E. Main Street in Huntingdon. The October meal will be a home-cooked feast of baked ziti, buttered bread, salad and dressing.
The Shepherd’s Table is a Community Kitchen created by the members, volunteers and friends of the First Presbyterian Church. Lead by Co-chairmen and church members, David Ray Carter and his wife, Suzanne. The Shepherd’s Table has grown over the last year and now feeds more than 100 people each month.
Dining will begin promptly at 5pm and the kitchen will be open until 6:45pm. Anyone hungry or seeking fellowship for a meal is invited.
Everyone that attends The Shepherd’s Table is treated as a guest and served restaurant style. Guests are taken to a table and seated by a volunteer. Someone else then comes to their table and takes their supper and drink order. The meal also includes a drink and dessert. The volunteers do all of the cleanup, as well. The guests are asked to simply enjoy a delicious meal compliments of the hard-working kitchen staff.
The mission of the Community Kitchen was to serve as many people in need of a hot meal as possible. The community kitchen’s success is dependent upon guests attending, volunteers and donations. If you know of someone that needs a hot meal or would just prefer to not eat alone please inform them about The Shepherd’s Table or better yet bring them by and join.
