By Mike Hutchens, UC Schools Communications Director
Union City, Tenn.–The color guard for the UCHS Marching Band made it 3-for-3 last weekend by claiming first place overall in the Huntingdon Invitational.
The group – which consists of 26 members and is under the direction of Laney Rogers, assisted by Blaine Bomar and Braylee Boucher — had earlier claimed the best in their category in the South Gibson Hornet Invitational on Sept. 21, and the Festival of Champions competition (Sept. 28) at Murray (Ky.) State University.
There were 25 bands to compete in the Huntingdon contest.
Senior members of the Union City High School color guard are (from left) Amelia Kingrey, Lexi Couch, Davey Townes, Brylee Coffey and Brooke Batey.
The percussion section of the Marching Tornadoes placed third overall in the Huntingdon Invitational.
The UCHS band will next compete in the Bands of America Super Regional in St. Louis, Oct. 18 and 19.
