Lyon County, Ky.–Lyon County officials Monday announced a joint initiative to bring access to fiber internet service to every home and business in the county.
Judge Executive Wade White made the announcement surrounded by several other officials, noting, “Whether you live in Eddyville or Kuttawa, Suwanee, Lamasco, or Sunnyside loop or all the tiny roads out in the County. Everyone is included – Fiber to every home.”
The county is working with the Lyon County Industrial Development Authority, West Kentucky and Tennessee Telecommunications Cooperative and the mayors of Kuttawa and Eddyville, he said.
White said, “This is one of the most exciting things I have ever announced for the betterment of everyone in Lyon County. To make this work – the county and cities must work together and carry this together – and I believe we will.”
The Industrial Development board will be utilizing $40,000 from the TVA and another $40,000 from the WK&T. Those start-up monies will be used to gather public input and develop an initial plan.
Anyone interested in giving input, call 1-800-910-LYON (5966) or email FiberForLyonCounty@WK.net to provide your contact information. WK&T will then notify you when the website becomes available.
