Driver, Passenger, Horses Injured In Accident

Fulton County, Ky.–One driver was airlifted to a Memphis hospital, one passenger was transported to a local hospital and three horses are still being treated after a collision involving two vehicles and a horse trailer over the weekend in Fulton County, Ky.
Jalen Weatherspoon of Owensboro was airlifted to Regional One Hospital in Memphis, a back seat passenger was taken to Union City Baptist Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Kailey Schmidt of Cottage Grove, Tenn., was driving a Dodge 3500 that was pulling a horse trailer. All occupants of the Dodge were checked out by EMS on the scene and released with no injuries. The horses were checked out by Wards Animal Clinic on scene when the trailer became stabilized. All three horses sustained injuries during the collision and are still seeking medical attention.
According to the report, around 10:34 pm on Saturday night, Fulton County Dispatch was notified of a two-car collision that occurred at the intersection of HWY 94 and Hwy 51.
Officers with the Fulton Police Department along with deputies from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office responded. It was determined by witness statements and by investigation that a 1998 Chevy trailblazer driven by Jalen Weatherspoon failed to stop at the intersection.
As the vehicle crossed the intersection it collided with a 2011 Dodge 3500 pulling a horse trailer that was driven by Kailey Schmidt of Cottage Grove. As the two vehicles collided the horse trailer came loose and hit the guard rail and was dangling off the embankment.
