Union City Man Found Deceased After Officers Called To Residence

Union City, Tenn.–A Union City man was found dead at his residence Friday night after police were called to the home on a report of an individual possibly barricaded inside.
According to a press release from the Union City Police, officers were called to 630 E. Main Street around 11:26 p.m. by the Tennessee Highway Patrol for assistance with a ‘possible barricaded subject’.
After the arrival of officers from various agencies, entry was made into the residence where they found Darren Parks, age 49, deceased from self-inflicted gunshots, according to the press release.
In an apparently unrelated incident on the same night, police were called to the Eastgate housing complex due to hearing multiple gunshots coming from there and were notified of multiple individuals that had arrived at the Baptist Memorial Emergency Room with injuries sustained from gun shots.
As WENK/WTPR reported earlier, officers responded from Eastgate to the emergency room. On arrival at the emergency room, officers found three individuals being treated for gun shot wounds, and a fourth being treated for a cut to the face.
